So many choices..............

Sorry I've been away soooo long, I wish I could tell you I've been crafting and sewing and doing lots and lots of lovely things but truth be told I've been really busy with the boys.

The twins are choosing their GCSE options, getting one to sit down and choose what courses they want to take is bad enough but two is bloody impossible, we've had the "I just want to do PE, Drama, D&T, and Photography" conversations eerr no I don't think so boys, Triple science, History, German, etc etc are much more appropriate.

They've also had a real tragedy at their school, just before Christmas one of their teachers went missing, she was actually Miles GCSE geography teacher, and this week her body was found in the river which is just awful, as their Headmaster said "this really is something none of them should experience, but these things do happen for whatever reason, and they have to deal with it" and they have, I think kids never cease to amaze you.

We've also got Miles trying to decide which university he should go to, we've been to Bournemouth twice in the last two weeks for different interviews, he's had three offers already but the course he really wants to get onto we are waiting to hear from fingers crossed, it's quite a competitive course so hopefully they liked what they saw, he wants to be a computer game designer, all 3D computer animation which I really don't understand at all, how he takes something flat on a page and turns it into something that has curves etc and starts moving is quite beyond me.

I've also been back and forth to the dentist and orthodontist but I won't bore you with that, so that's what I've been up to plus all the usual household stuff.

I want to get lots of things finished off this month I'll let you know later this week, hopefully.

I really shouldn't be allowed out.............
When the sales are on that is, I just popped into Kingston for new underwear for the boys and was tempted into Whitestuff they have some gorgeous clothes in there and I was very good until I saw these and couldn't resist I have them in brown and they are so comfy and reduced to £15 I had to have them. Then I just happened to pop into Cath's place and this beautiful red velvet floral bag was screaming my name, it was saying "Katie if you don't buy me today I'm going to keep you awake at night until you come back and buy me" honest that is exactly what it was saying I promise you, so to save myself sleepless nights I had to buy it, didn't I? I know I'm weak hehehehe.

I really really should have gone home then but as Next is just around the corner from Caths I thought I'd pop in and there was the coat I was going to buy a couple of weeks before Christmas half price, oh bloody hell I knew I should have gone home because before I knew it I had paid for it and was heading out of the shop ooops.

So there you go I admit it I am weak and have no willpower and the boys will have to make do with the undies they have, I am such a bad mother.

Christmas 2009.
Ready to have a look at all the goodies I got for Christmas, the first thing I bought myself with Christmas money of course, quilt cover and pillowcases by you know who but 30% off in Bentalls sale. Gorgeous Boden mac!

Two Cath bags one from my lovely friend Ann, who I meet every Friday afternoon for coffee.

Lovely sewing tins, now I told Dave I didn't want these, I did really and he got them.

Gorgeous fabric from my sister because it matches my blog, and one of the best books I've found in a long time well a few weeks anyway!!!

Now do you see a theme here, I've loved Russian dolls for ages and this year was definitely a bumper year, I love all those different faces.

Now I really don't know why we received so much of the bubbly stuff, anyone would think we like a tipple.

Now this present started off as one present of a lovely draught excluder, but as I made one not so long ago and hubby got a great union jack one I decided to make one present into three, two cushions and a picture and I am really pleased how they turned out.

Right there you go all my lovely goodies.

Happy New Year!!!!!!!

Can you believe it's new year already? I know I say that a lot but time does seem to fly by at the moment, it must be all the fun were having.

Lots of projects are planned for this year a lot less spending and a lot more creating, I think a lot of us in blog land are thinking along the same lines so it will be interesting to see how we all get on. I love the new year I love thinking of all the things I will achieve in the next 12 months and if all the things don't get done oh well there's always next year.
My life may be changing completely in the next few months and I may have to become a lot more organized as I mentioned before I'm returning to nannying maybe to twin boys who are due January 29th I'll find out in the next couple of weeks if I'm definitely doing it, 99.9% sure I will be. It'll be funny I'll have my own money proper money not just part time teaching money, shall I blow the first months money on Cath? no of course not I would never be that frivolous, not much I wouldn't, maybe just the first weeks hehehe.
I was supposed to be boring you with pictures of my Christmas presents but I can't seem to find my camera, I think it's in the twins room somewhere as they were using it last to take photos of the remains of Elliotts 3 day old skateboard which was run over by a bloody bus, thankfully he was nowhere near it at the time, when the wheels hit a stone it flys off very fast and unfortunately into the road. Now for those of you without teenage boys into skating you may think oh well never mind £20-£25 will buy him a new one, if only, board upwards of £40, trucks (what the wheels attach to) £50, wheels £35, and lastly bearings that go inside the wheels £18, are you still with me or have I bored you rigid, don't ever say my blog is not educational !!!
So there you go that's what I have been dealing with, I'll be back with those photos I promise.

Christmas over for another year.......

I hope all you lovely ladies had a great day and were all spoilt rotten and got everything you wanted, I can't quite believe that's it for another year all those weeks of planning and shopping then planning and panicking and before we know it whoosh it 9pm Christmas night and we're all sat on the sofa fit to burst and desperately looking for something to watch on the tv.

We had quite a relaxed Christmas as the boys are that much older we don't have that major toy hunt for the latest power ranger or action man tank ..........those were the days all those lovely square boxes so easy to wrap.

Now it's smaller things that cost lots more and are not very impressive when wrapped but at least we don't have the huge pile of toys with no homes and have to rearrange bedrooms just to put everything away, or find things in May that still haven't been looked at.

I got some lovely presents lots of Russian dolls, fabric, books, Cath Kidston bag, tins, sewing threads more tins, a gorgeous Boden jacket, I'll take photos of everything tomorrow.

I'm going back to my glass of wine and yet more chocolate.

How can it be December 18th already???
I bet you thought I'd dropped off the edge of the world didn't you?
well no I haven't I've been doing all sorts of things that seem to get in the
way of blogging.
Christmas shopping being the most time consuming, just when you think
your just about finished you realise you've bought one son more than the
other, with the older two it doesn't matter but when your a twin even at 14
it matters. We've also had a visit from my eldest he came to cut hair and earn
some extra money, we've had university visits EEEEKKK how did that happen
Miles wants to go to Bournemouth, but we're also looking at Bristol, which is where
Tom wants him to go, not sure he would be a great influence on him though, but I
must admit it would be easier for us if both boys were in Bristol, we'll see what happens
in the new year.
Lots of other things have happened but nothing very interesting.

I was looking for some ribbon to finish wrapping my presents, but because I love
ribbon so much I hate putting it on presents, it's different on family ones because I
usually whip it back just after they've opened the present, but on the presents I'm not
around when they're opened I don't like to think of my lovely ribbon going in the bin, so
I got some binding tape I think it is, some stamps and some ink pads and before you know
it you have lovely hand crafted ribbon for all your presents, I like it so much I'm using it
on all of them, so my precious ribbon can stay with me hehehehe.

Must go now I've still got a couple of presents to wrap.

Stop the world I want to get off..............
I really don't know where the time is going at the moment weeks just seem to fly by in an instant, and Christmas is just around the corner.
I'm looking forward to a relatively quiet week, no orthodontist appointments, no university visits, no interviews and no husband at home all week just because he has holiday to use up, I tell you I don't mind when I have a bit of a warning but when he announces on Friday oh by the way I'm off next week, well you can imagine can't you, thank god he can carry the other week over till next year hehehe love him really.
Right what have I been up to, well all of the above as well as a trip to Ikea and a migraine thrown in for good measure, I've done quite a bit of sewing for swaps and Christmas presents so no photos I'm afraid, I'm also making tiny bunting, the only reason is I couldn't bear to throw the little bits of fabric away and that's the only thing I could think of making, I'll let you know how it turns out.
I also have a miniature tailors dummy which needed covering so I used some of the scraps for that, so all in all I've been quite productive considering all that's been going on, but I'm really looking forward to a much quieter week..........famous last words!!!

THE DELIGHTS OF THE COUNTRY LIVING CHRISTMAS FAIR !!!! Thursday saw me travelling up to London to the delightful CL fair to meet up with some lovely bloggy ladies Rose, Victoria and Kelly. I certainly wasn't disappointed so much gorgeousness under one roof was to say the least bloody amazing !!!

These photos are completely rubbish I know but there was so much to look at I really didn't know what to look at first it was all so nice, so I apologise.

I know you don't want to hear me waffling on you just want to see what goodies came home with me, I know I know get on with it Kate.........

My first purchase was this lovely bunting which I bought to cut up and either frame or as the lovely Kelly suggested sew onto cushions and the union jack Christmas stars.

Next came more patriotic bunting and these gorgeous paper chains, do you see a theme developing!!!!

I couldn't resist this lovely cushion and really wish I'd bought two.

Next came these lovely lavender hearts these were only £5 so a real bargain, and these pretty tea towels which will be made into something else don't know what yet though.

These are gorgeous ribbons from Caroline Zoob and are on wooden bobbins, and lovely little red embroidered bunting.

I didn't even realise this offer was on until I met up Victoria and Kelly in the afternoon, if you subscribed to Country Living not only was it nearly half price you got a free Jan Constantine stocking WOW.

This is all the brochures and cards I picked up so I can spend more time on the computer looking at more gorgeousness.

So all in all a very successful day it was so lovely to meet up with Rose, Victoria and Kelly my bloggy ladies in 3D as my boys called them, they were all lovely and I'm sure we could of chatted for hours, it was such a shame more of us could have made it but maybe next time?

Pink cupcake fabric yummy.

Forgive me Father for I have sinned...........

It has been too long since my last blog entry and I bought FABRIC!!!!!!!!

OMG I hear you cry why o why could she possibly want with more fabric?

where is she going to put it? is she actually going to make anything or just stroke it lovingly?

yes I know I'm weak really really weak I admit it put pretty fabric in front of me and I loose all sense of reason, not that I have much of that at the best of times.

I defy anyone to resist pink fabric with cupcakes and the Tilda fabrics are so so pretty they just had to come home with me, then I found these tiny Russian doll rubber stamps and you know I really can't resist them.

Then I found this lovely red with tiny white spot fabric and at only £2.49 a metre I thought it would be perfect for Christmas cushion covers, tablecloth and maybe some bunting, I do like a theme at Christmas and I'm planning only red and white eeek what am I going to do with everything else? it can stay in the loft this year....maybe we'll see. Then the cherry on the top of my fabric cake is the red bobble trim oooh I loooove bobble trim.

I have so many things going on in my head at the moment, I might even be going back into nannying for twin boys no less, are you mad I hear you scream? yes probably, if it's meant to be then it will happen.

I really do need to concentrate, something I find really difficult, I'm going to the Country Living Christmas Fair on Thursday and will be meeting some lovely blogging ladies so I'm really excited if a little bit nervous, it will be great and I can't wait.

The only trouble is when I go to fairs like that I come out with 101 more ideas going around in my poor little head, oh no what if they have fabric there, I'll try and be good and take lots of lovely photos for all you girls who can't make it.

HALF TERM

Hello everyone hope we're all having a good half term, I must say the weather has been lovely which always helps.

We're having a great week, starting Saturday with Greenday at the O2 who were absolutely fantastic they certainly know how to put on a show and they were on stage for nearly 3 hours WOW!!! I'm just a rock chick at heart (as long as it's a pink flowery heart).

Sunday was just a relaxing day, no football matches, no in-laws to visit just a day to do nothing bliss.

So half term kicks off properly on Monday and now my youngest boys are nearly 14 I haven't got the stresses of finding something for them to do everyday I'm just the open purse and the occasional driver which is fine by me. I think I've done my time with bowling/swimming/swings/zoo etc.

That brings me to today which was spent mostly sat in the car in Cobham watching the boys skateboarding, I did venture out of the car and I'm so glad I did, Cobham has some very nice little shops, some ridiculously overpriced, well it is footballers wives territory.

Two little shops were full of oo-la-la gorgeousness, I was very restrained but I did buy a few little treats for being such a good mummy!

Isn't this tin lovely.

I thought this wrapping paper would make a good picture mount around my union jack felt heart I'm halfway through making.

This is also wrapping paper I was looking at a print of the UK not so long ago but it was £65 this one was £1.50 what a bargain, just got to find a frame for it and we'll be away.

Couldn't resist this notebook and Christmas cards, I found a pattern for a quilt with Russian dolls on which I think I'll have to have a go at, because it was lovely.

Now I was in two minds about the bunting I've made lots of bunting over the years and it is really easy, but I wanted this for the bathroom and I thought for the sake of £5.99 I couldn't be bothered to sort the fabric out if it's that cheap to buy, lazy I know.

I did go into a couple of charity shops nothing special but I did find these 2 books.
Needlework a school text book from 1959.

And Clothing construction and wardrobe planning from 1960.

Some of the pictures are hysterical.

And a great bit of advice for anyone "Don't hang your pants like this unless you want puckers or rust spots"

now don't say you've not been warned.

It's getting mighty cold...............

As the temperature seems to be dropping like a stone lately I thought I'd make some pretty draught excluders, although why I'm bothering I don't know because I seem to have boys who are very good at opening doors but haven't seemed to master closing them, that's why I can often be heard shouting DOOR several times a day.

So what fabric to use oh decisions decisions, so after lots of umming and ahhhing I finally decided, now what do I make just a sausage type one? nah maybe a dog one? nah oh bloody hell this is worse than choosing the fabric.

As I'm a lazy moo at heart and want instant results it had to be the bog standard sausage type one, more long cushion than sausage but it does the job and the joke is the fabric wasn't even in the pile it's Laura Ashley I think and I will have to make cushion covers to match.

Blimey where did that week go?

I want to know what happens to my time, it seems to wizz by without me even knowing it, I can't believe its been a over a week since Miles and I went up to London.

I know where my weekend went it was spent moving my eldest Tom into his new flat with his girlfriend Laura ahhh young love it's so lovely to see them together, it does make me feel really old though. At least I wasn't a blubbering wreck on the way home like I was when he first moved to Bristol I seem to have toughened up. The move went really well and it's a lovely flat so I hope they'll be really happy there. I must say that Laura is really lovely and has the most beautiful shoes you have ever seen, I should have taken photos of them they were that good, and Tom informs me that he chose at least 3 of the pairs (great taste my boy has, gets it from his mummy) .

Sunday was taken up with the twins football match which they won 7-1 well done boys, so that was the weekend.

I have done some crafting and as I missed the knitting and stitching show at Alexandra Palace I've been going through my ridiculously large stash of fabric, one day I'll post a photo of it but I'm not sure if hubby reads my blog and he might start adding up all those fat quarters and metres of divine fabric and come to an appalling sum of money yikes!!!

I know I'm not the only one that goes completely stupid when faced with gorgeous fabrics my mum and both sisters are the same and I know many of you bloggy ladies are the same, it's an addiction I tell you, an addiction I don't want to go into re-hab for thank you very much.

I've been doing a lot of cutting and sticking as my lovely husband calls it, I have a bit of a thing for the letter K and have quite a few dotted around the house so i decoupaged one of my plain wooden ones and I think it turned out quite well, I've also been buying those blank canvas's from the 99p shop so cheap and great if your just sticking pretty things to it I'm not sure they are great to paint on though.

I decorated one of these and again I like the way it turned out, I've also been sorting out my Halloween decorations I didn't realise I had quite so many so if anyone sees me in TK Maxx looking lovingly at the pumpkins feel free to usher me away.

I made so button flowers with some of my collection and added some silver springy things to go with them which go nicely in my White Friers vase which I bought a couple of years ago for £1 and am reliably informed is worth £35-£40, not bad eh.

I think that's enough wittering for now

Mummy and Miles went out tatts.

Today my 18 year old and me went into London to the Friends Coffee shop just off Carnaby Street, thanks to the lovely Victoria who blogged about it the other day.

I don't often get chance to go out with Miles so it made such a nice change to go somewhere he was quite interested in, I mean he wasn't bothered about going but I didn't have to drag him there either. Miles doesn't like photos so these are sneaky ones taken when he wasn't looking.

So thank you Miles for a lovely afternoon, and if your wondering what tatts means it's what I used to say to the boys when they were little.

What a weekend....
I don't quite know why I put that title, just couldn't think of anything else I've got that Monday morning feeling, it's pouring with rain it's dark and chilly and I don't like it!!!
I want the sunshine back it just makes everything so much better doesn't it ?
Well there's no chance of any sun today so I best just get on with it, the house is back to normal again this morning after a whirlwind visit from Tom my eldest, he lives in Bristol now so we don't see each other as much as I'd like he came to do haircuts and earn some money as he's moving into a new flat this weekend with dads help of course, I'm just going to make the tea lol, so I'll see him two weeks in a row yay!!!

It's weird how you get used to one less in the house I don't think I want to go back to cooking for six, and no Beki he didn't bring his dirty washing although I think if he could drive it might be a different story.
Not a lot of crafting got done but I did make the bag that came with my new book, it's super easy and I have a lovely picture of it on the camera which seems to have gone missing somewhere, it's probably under the huge pile of ironing that is looking at me from the kitchen.

Sew blooming lovely !!!!

This was delivered yesterday and as I pre ordered it from Amazon in August technically I didn't

go out and buy it, so I completed my no spend week !!!! just with a present at the end yay. It was surprisingly easy to not buy anything (hang on that can't be me talking ,an alien must have taken over) hehe, no it really was easy so I think I may continue it for a while, or until I see something I really can't live without, trust me it won't be long.

Back to this lovely book, how lovely are these.

This book is so much better than the last one which personally I thought was rubbish, so this was a really lovely surprise, so for those of you who are still undecided I would say definitely buy it, even the bag alone is worth the price of the book, can you tell I quite like this book haha.

I'm off now to have my hair cut by my lovely son and then cook lunch, have a great Sunday everyone.

Goodies and temptations.

Well the first day of no spend week started fine, went food shopping I know exciting but we have to eat one of my favourite lines is "we'd be rich if we didn't have to eat", and I'd be slim !!!

Anyway I'd hardly put said shopping away when I get a call from my mum saying the doctors have told her she needs to go straight to the hospital, she has heart problems and had a heart attack nearly two years ago without knowing it I might add she was out christmas shopping at the time and still managed to finish her shopping!!!! tough as old boots springs to mind.

So round I went to pick her up, my dad could have taken her but to say he is useless in that sort of situation is an understatement, so we arrive at the hospital at 12.50 and I just knew this was going to be a long afternoon things were not happening quickly especially when you have to wait for results to come back , doctors to sign letters etc etc so nearly seven yes seven hours later we were on our merry way having been given the all clear well nearly we're back again Saturday, I tell you what with her and the boys I wouldn't have time to work hehehehe which suits me fine.

So basically day one was fine because I was stuck at the bloody hospital. Day two was the temptation day not one but two catalogues dropped through the door the first being Hancocks of Paducah a book of sheer heaven all the new fabrics, as I always spend an absolute fortune I will have to hide this one.

The second one was from Joules, oh well bloody hell there are so many lovely things in this one as you can see from the photo I want to be that model surrounded by vintage cups and saucers

and in the other photo they've even got the pug I want, so ugly but so cute, I don't quite understand the tea pot on the head but hey she may have been cold.

On to the goodies my swap parcel arrived from the friendship swap I joined, it came from the lovely Alice in Utah, it was a lovely little quilted bag filled with four fat quarters, ric rac, pins a huge pin cushion, two chocolate bars but my absolute favourite has to be the crocheted flower tape measure which is gorgeous so thank you Alice it's all lovely.

All in all not a bad start to the week.

NO SPEND WEEK!!!!

This week I'm going to really really try not to spend any money (ok Claire you can stop laughing) people who know me will know how easy I find it, but I have decided I do not NEED anything, no fabric no ribbon no flowery plates and I certainly don't need another button for as long as I live.

I will obviously still need to go food shopping but apart from that nothing else, I might be able to focus on the stuff I actually own rather than looking for new goodies.

At the moment I have so much fabric I think I could quilt most of England so I really can't buy anymore!!!! I might post a photo this week of all my fabric just to shame myself, then again maybe not you might just think I'm a greedy cow, yes Claire I know you already think that but you are steadily catching up.

So let's see how I get on shall we, I might even post every day OMG that will be strange won't it feel free to join me if you wish.

THE BIG RE-LAUNCH.

I can't believe it has been so so long since I first started this blog, I had such high hopes

for it but sadly it didn't happen.

But that was then and this is now and I'm back with a new enthusiasm for all things crafty.

I have a list as long and my arm of different things I want to make, starting with quilts for all

my boys I'll only do squares nothing to intricate (no point as they will only end up on the floor)

Has anyone seen the patchwork chair in the new Cath Kidston catalouge I would love to do that

with my sofas, I don't think my husband would appreciate it though and it does look like a lot of

work. I have just got to start using up some of my fabric I seem to have so much at the moment

I think thats why I can't concentrate on one thing because I'm always looking for my next project.

I've been sorting through all my craft books, to many craft books according to hubby (I hope he never looks at my wish list on Amazon) and I keep being drawn back to the Tilda ones everything is so pretty in them, some things are a little silly like a cow with angel wings on, I don't think I'll be making one of those, but never say never tastes change you know.

I've started making the quilt in the sew pretty homestyle which has quite a lot of applique which I'm enjoying because I can do that in the evenings while watching tv.

Hopefully this time I can keep posting.

How can it be Friday already?

I can't understand it I'm sure I have less days in the week than everybody else, I must have how come everyone else seems to rearrange their houses landscape their gardens cook fab meals bake cakes and still have time to sew all in a week!!!
Maybe I just need to organize myself better I wonder where I've heard that before oh yes it's what I say to myself at the start of every week.
I start the week with all these good intentions that I will have everything done by lunchtime and have the afternoons crafting but somehow this just doesn't happen.
Maybe I should get off the computer and go and put some washing on........

Right I'm back now having cleaned as much as I'm going to today I've just been to the garden centre and they had my favourite frilly pansies I just love frilly pansies they are so pretty and best of all they were buy one get one free so I had to buy 6 I did didn't I please tell me I did.
When I got home the postman had been and left me a parcel on the doorstep I love parcels it was from the good fairy swap on swap bot and my partner was Raesha and she sent me 2 of the swaps I didn't receive anything from the first was a fabric swap yah I love love love fabric and it was a lovely selection and a pink swap which is another thing a absolutly adore pink and she sent me a cute pink notebook, buttons, lovely ric rac and a cute pack of pink snaps I love presents thank you Raesha.

At last I'm about to embark on a whole new adventure, I've been wanting to start this blog for months now but you know how it is theres always something else that comes up or is the truth I just kept putting it off week after week content just reading other talented girls blogs and wondering how the hell they keep their floors so clean and still manage to create such wonderful things, maybe they just write about the good bits and don't photograph the ironing pile in the corner that is threatening to take over the entire house or is that just mine?
I thought it would be nice to have somewhere I could show my charity/thrift shop finds to people who don't look at me with that pitying look that says OK mum as long as you like it thats fine but don't you dare put it anywhere near my room, why can't boys see the beauty in things your granny would have had on her dresser.
Anyway I think thats enough for now I may be back later to add some photos of what I call treasure and what my husband and boys call complete and utter crap..... theres no accounting for taste I suppose.
